RE: Exact length of Rockwood 8313SS / Flagstaff 831KRSS

Just an FYI, my Dodge quad cab long box truck is 21 feet long, hitch is about 6 inches from the bumper and the spare tire sticks out about 6 inches. I would be about 55 feet running down the road.
It still says your 8317 is on order. Didn't come in yet? Got mine 2 weeks ago.

Expected Delivery: 8-10 weeks
Pickup Date: TBD
Actual Wait time: 6 weeks
Date arrived at Dealer: 3/18/08
Date of walkthrough & paperwork: 3/22/08
Date of pickup: TBD
We did our basic walkthrough today and could not find anything wrong at all. The dealer has done a once through before we gogt there, but they have their own PDI where they will test internal pressure, looking for leaks. We are scheduled to go back next Saturday for a thorough demo and to take delivery. I'm very excited. Thanks to Norm V and Ron at Cold Springs RV in Weare, NH! I'm pretty excited about actually using it now. We upgraded from a popup, so this is huge for us. We already have a week booked at Normandy Farms in July and need to start booking some other trips. We like Pine Acres Resort near worcester MA and Cold Springs Camptground in Weare, NH. Need to look around at some other places too.
I'm picking up our 8317 tomorrow morning!!!!!!!!! I am quite excited about this.
And as luck would have it, prior to my leaving the house in the morning, the kind gentleman who bought my popup is coming to pick it up. So, that frees up some space in the driveway and keeps the DW happy.

RE: RV DIRECT trailer delivery report ... Des Moines RV

Ok...just call me gullible, naive, etc....still trying to get used to the humor here. I should have figured that the message about Tibet was a joke...sorry!
If you had met me before, you would know my humor is a little dry. I tend to make outlandish comments with a straight face. Hard to do that in an online discussion environment.
YES, TIBET was a joke. :p
Sorry if I actually made anyone nervous. :-)

RE: RV DIRECT trailer delivery report ... Des Moines RV

I am negotiating a Jayco purchase with RVDirect as we speak (or read). Thanks for the info. I have to wait for a few days as Jayco is converting over to 2009 models and is not accepting orders now.
The 09's are actually going to be produced in Tibet. Did you know that? :E

RE: Air Mattress Hide-a-bed in Rockwood TT

We just did our walkthrough today on our 8317. The mattress looks nice. It is an aerobed brand and I guess it's about an 8" mattress. Looks really nice.

RE: floor plan codes

We currently have a popup camper and waiting to take delivery of our new TT. For our camper, I created our own acronym.
Coleman 25PIMATPU "Pain in my arse to pop up". Thus, why we are buying the TT.

RE: RV Financing Questions

jeez, it sounds like a countrywide subprime fiasco to me. I would shop around. That seems to be way too high for fees. You should not pay ANY origination or underwriting fees.

RE: iPhone SDK is official!!!

Now I don't mind if some people don't prefer an Apple, but knee jerk rants are just silly.
My wife and I are about to have a book published, guess what? I can only sell that book through my publisher and they take a cut.
If I was a car dealer and wanted to sell Chevy's, I would only be able to get my vehicles from GM and they would take a cut.
The APP Store is a standard, old fashioned, tried and true business model and if it wasn't Apple. you would probably be applauding it.
Amen to that. This is just a new twist on a franchise model. As a developer, I like this. I don't have to worry about it. I can build an app and upload it to their store. It is instantly searchable and downloadable there. I probably won't get any help desk like calls. I really really like this model. I use visual studio to do some development work, except of course when I write Java, in which case I use eclipse. I like this.

I'm in the process of downloading it now, but it's unclear as to the IDE language. It also requires leopard and I have not upgraded yet.

RE: iPhone SDK is official!!!

So, what language would you develop your apps in? Would it be Java, PHP, JSP, PERL, etc? I write software, but I typically work with eRoom APIs which use com, vbscript, VB, C#. I also write software for Documentum using Java and C#. This looks like a potential avenue for distribution. I'm kinda excited.

RE: Fuel prices........................ oh yea!

Well, we could just hook up the trailer to the truck, put the kids in the truck and put a movie in the DVD player. Watch the movie, then get out and get in the trailer. All while never leaving the driveway. That's one way to save gas money.

RE: Tow MPG with 6L Yukon or Suburban?

I have the 6.2L w 3.73 Yukon XL Denali. We tow a 2500 pound popup and get about 11 mpg or so. But, that's with a family of 6 in the truck. We're getting a new Rockwood TT that weighs 6000 lbs dry. Not looking forward to that MPG. But, the tow mode works fabulously.

RE: rockwood signature and flagstaff classic

I looked at Salems and Rockwoods last summer, side by side. The Rockwoods were much nicer. Better trim and finish work. It just looked nicer.
As far as your local dealer versus RVW, I wonder if any of that has to do with tariffs of exporting from the US? I'm no expert on NAFTA and perhaps there are no tariffs. I suppose that even if there were, it would be in the hundreds, not thousands of dollars. Your local guy will surely charge for shipping and the cost of getting it across the border. But, again, that should not be much.
Good luck!

RE: RV Wholesalers in Ohio

Oh darn, I've been missing an argument. I don't usually like to miss those.
FIRST - Sam Adams (when not dieting) Sam Adams Light (when trying to drop a few pounds)
SECOND - I was tempted to buy from RVDirect, but bought from Norm at Cold Springs RV in Weare, NH instead. I have only ordered the TT, so I can't comment on their PDI and service, but the sales process has been good.
DISCLAIMER - I do not work for RVW, RVDirect, or Cold Springs. I do own my own business... (Link removed by the moderator, sorry, it's in the rules...)

RE: the cape

BayView is pretty good. They have 3 pools I think and they are nice. They also have a great playground, volleyball, etc. Also a great baseball field. There is a nice camp store that sells ice cream and a snack bar. The rest rooms are clean, but I think that the showers don't have individual locking doors. No big deal to me, but my wife was nervous about it. They have great activities for the kids, like candy bar bingo etc. Some good friends of ours do a mini seasonal site there in the Fall. They love it.

RE: towing with a Denali

Hey Chuck, I also have the 2007 Yukon XL Denali. We have ordered the 8317SS which weighs about the same. How does it tow? What about sway? We have used the towing mode when towing our popup, but that weighs about half of course. I'm less worried about MPG than I am towability, safety, etc.

RE: RV Wholesalers in Ohio

I looked at RV Direct as well as 2 local dealers. Initially, RV Direct seemed to be about $3000 less on a $24000 TT. The closest dealer would not budge on price and they seemed very small. The other "local" dealer is 2 hours away, but in the area where we will be camping. He (Cold Springs RV in Weare NH - Norm was the salesman) threw in the hitch work and we worked out a price that we were both comfortable with. We first met Norm at the RV show in Boston and he took plenty of time to talk with us about options, colors, features etc. He also showed us other brands. He was low key, but took time to follow up etc.
Being a newbie to RVing, I like the fact that this dealer is closer to me and where we camp. They are a bigger dealer and look very organized.
I guess it depends on how comfortable you are with fixing small repaird yourself.
